Cuanto: A Tool for Quantification of Bone Tissue in the Proximity of Implants
نویسندگان
چکیده
Quantitative analysis of histological images of bone-implant samples is a important step in the evaluation of bone-implant integration. However, the quantification is a tedious task when carried out manually in the light microscope. To automatize the quantification, Cuanto, a software for measurements of bone area and estimation of bone-implant contact length in histological images of boneimplant samples has been developed. The quantification result of the software is compared to manual measurements; area measurements correspond well with the manual quantification whereas significant differences in the length estimation is observed. The possibility of zooming in down to cell-level when quantifying manually is believed to render the discrepancy.

Heat Treatment Of Cobalt-Base Alloy Surgical Implants With Hydroxyapatite-Bioglass For Surface Bioactivation
ASTM F-75 Cobalt-base alloy castings are widely used for manufacturing orthopedic implants. This alloy needs both homogenization and solutionizing heat treatment after casting, as well as bioactivation of the surface to increase the ability of tissue bonding. In this study, ASTM F-75 Cobalt-base substrate was heat treated at 1220°C for 1 hour in contact with Hydroxyapatite-Bioglass powder in or...
متن کاملبررسی میزان بقا و سلامت بافتهای اطراف ایمپلنتهای دیو Bone Level(Dio ® SM) کار گذاشته شده در بیماران شهر اصفهان در فاصله سالهای 1384 تا 1389
Introduction: Dental implants are the choice of treatment for missing teeth. Despite the very good results, implant treatment is also associated with some failures and complications. The aim of this study was evaluation of survival rate and tissue health indexes around the Dio® SM dental implants placed in patients of dental school and a private office in Isfahan from 2005 until 2010. Me...
متن کاملCurrent Concepts in Scaffolding for Bone Tissue Engineering
Bone disorders are of significant worry due to their increased prevalence in the median age. Scaffold-based bonetissue engineering holds great promise for the future of osseous defects therapies. Porous composite materials andfunctional coatings for metallic implants have been introduced in next generation of orthopedic medicine for tissueengineering. While osteoconductive materials such as hyd...
متن کاملComparative Study of Bone Repair Using Porous Hydroxyapatite/ β-Tricalcium Phosphate and Xenograft Scaffold in Rabbits with Tibia Defect
Background: Bone tissue engineering requires materials that are biocompatible, mechanically suited for bone function, integrated with the host skeleton, and support osteoinduction of the implanted cells for new bone formation. The aim of this study was to compare the osteogenic potential of xenograft with hydroxyapatite/β- tricalcium phosphate (HA/β-TCP) scaffold. Methods: New Zealand rabbits (...
متن کاملEvaluating the impact of length and thread pitch on the stress distribution in dental implants and surrounding bone using finite element method
longevity of osseointegrated implants are intensely influenced by biomechanical factors. Control of these factors prevents mechanical complications, which include fracture of screws, components, or materials veneering the framework. In this study, the impact of length and threads pitch of dental implants on the stress distribution and maximum Von Mises stress in implant-abutment complex and ja...
